Kiddie book club – run by parents!

Who: All parents committed to literacy and FUN welcome…and their little ones of course 🙂  (don’t forget to invite dads)

Why: we aim to inspire parents to really get into a book and show their kids how much fun it can be.  By doing something different like focussing on a book for a month, we hope it will renew some excitement in the home and get your ‘fun parent’ on!  And for every fun moment you have, please post on our ‘I raise my kids’ facebook page to inspire more parents to take book reading to another level.

When: each month, for a month

Where: having fun with your children with literacy in your home or taking the book to daycare/school for show and tell

What’s involved: having fun with books!  If you don’t have the book, look into buying it or reserving it at your library. Otherwise, remember to announce to your little ones that ‘we’re going to read this book a lot for a few weeks. Let’s have some fun with it!!!’.

Watch our facebook page throughout the month for ideas on:

– how to read it to different age groups

– concepts to explain

– fun activities relating to the book

Take ideas and again, please share ideas 🙂

We are hoping that by the end of the month you will have ‘done the book to death’ but had lots of fun with your children (and taught them plenty) at the same time.  It does take effort but remember – the more you put in, the more you get back 🙂

Stay tuned for the June book…

About heidelightful

Hello friend! I am a paediatric speech pathologist and health coach. My vision is to create a world where parents can understand the real link between diet and their child's health and behaviour, and know how to create true health for their family. My two young, wonderful and sensitive sons both have food intolerances and have also taught me about my own, that I have never known about until now! Topics I have looked into for my own family's health and also from my role as a speech pathologist with children with picky eating are food intolerances, fussy eaters, creating healthy eaters and eating to prevent and ‘cure’ childhood issues such as ADHD, autism, eczema/skin issues, trouble sleeping, low immunity, frequent snot/ear infections and bedwetting, to name a few. I write many posts coming from being an exhausted mum trying to keep up with fussy boys who can only eat certain foods and also as a professional who has worked with other children with similar issues. I live on the Sunshine Coast in Australia with my husband and two boys and was previously an exchange student in Brazil! I hope to inspire you to help your child achieve their potential through health and well-being. Thanks for stopping by :) Heidi
